MotoGP: Vinales disappointed: "I couldn't even pass today"

He was, without a doubt, the most disappointed in Losail. That's right, since Maverick Vinales took off from pole position, and many thought he was the favorite to win. Instead, just a few laps were enough to wipe out the Spaniard's ambitions, forced to settle for seventh place behind Petrucci.

"I knew that the race would have been difficult despite the start off from the first spot," said the Yamaha rider. "Unfortunately, at the start, I made a mistake, and I was immediately sucked in by the group, struggling to keep up."

Maverick then explains the problems.

"It's difficult to drive for me when I'm inside the group, and I miss the classic lines. like when I'm alone on the track, like in the qualifying laps or in practice sessions. In the race, when I find myself with the other riders, I have to brake harder on the straight, and all this is really stressful on the tire, which then affects it negatively over time."

That's really some problem.

"The truth is that I didn't have a grip in the back tire, and I couldn't pass. When Valentino passed me, I saw he was better off with his tire and managed to be much more competitive in the end."

It's really too bad that this opportunity was wasted.

"I'm going to leave Qatar  knowing that we must concentrate on braking. In fact, I'm very curious to go to Argentina, since we'll have to take a different path, that is, work immediately with a race perspective, following different lines. Unfortunately, here in Losail, the fact of riding alone in the tests or qualifications didn't allow me to grasp certain aspects."
