MotoGP: Dovizioso: "Petrucci? I'm pleased he's confident"

On the opening test day at Valencia, his Ducati proved the strongest. We're talking about that of Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian's GP18 rounded out the day in fourth place, just behind Valentino Rossi and a little over four tenths from the fastest rider.

We didn't ride much today. Our aim was to build a good base with the GP18, seeing as last weekend we had rain to deal with. These tests require precision and concentration, as the choices we make will affect 2019.

Dovizioso has clear ideas.

As I've said, we need that base for the GP18 so that we can make comparisons with the new bike. unfortunately the rain complicated our plans today, so we hope for better weather tomorrow. We wanted to carry out a good comparative test but once we were ready, it started to rain. Tomorrow we hope for a dry track so that we can ride all day”.

And as for Petrucci's arrival?

I'm pleased he's confident, though we are carrying out slightly different work. Day one always attracts a lot of attention but overall it counts for little I think”.
