MotoGP: Dovizioso-Lorenzo: no hand shake at EICMA

They crossed paths at EICMA, with both Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso present at the Ducati stand on day one of the Milan show. It should have served as an opportunity to clear things up after what happened during the Sepang race weekend, Borgo Panigale bosses keen for the pair to resolve any conflict.

When the topic is raised, the Majorcan clarifies his position: “Dovi's statements surprised me, I don't think it was right. Ducati told us, at Brno, not to speak badly of each other, and yet Andrea said what he said. I don't want to add anything, you already know what I think”.

The Italian responds in kind:  "I have no problem, mature people talk things through in person.  Paolo Ciabatti had this to say: “we've met with the two riders separately, there are no fires to put out. As I've said on other occasions, the team is more important than the ego of any one individual. Jorge and Andrea are only human and in certain situations they may react in a certain way”.

Dovi and Jorge did not add to the controversy then, but neither did they did shake hands: “They will, but that's not the problem, it's clear that it wasn't nice to hear Andrea say what he did and then have Jorge's reaction, the latter dealing with injury that has forced him to miss races. We've cleared things up with both of them anyway.

The pair will be back in close proximity at Valencia, sharing a garage for the final time before the Majorcan leaves for Honda next season. Dovizioso will be focusing on the GP19: “We won't see the definitive version of the GP19 until the first race, any new aerodynamics will arrive at the final test prior to the Qatar GP, though the current system has shown to have great potential”.
