Marc Marquez deserves a long holiday and more time to celebrate after winning his seventh world title. Instead, just a few days after securing his trophy at Motegi, the Spaniard is already at Phillip Island, focused on the next race. The world champion has a complicated relationship with the Australian track: sometimes he achieves great things, while on other occasions he makes unforgivable mistakes.

With the crown already on his head, Marc can enjoy the next races but there are still targets to aim for.

It’s a great feeling to arrive in Australia with the Title already won, and I really look forward to enjoying the end of the season. Of course there are also the Constructors and the Teams’ titles to think of, so we’ll try to keep the same level of performance and win more races to achieve those goals as well, as they’re important for us and for Honda."

In other words, don't expect to see a contented or submissive Marquez. One of the Spaniard's secrets is precisely this setting of new goals in order to remain motivated.

love Phillip Island; it’s a fast track that always favours race-long battles that are a great show for the fans. I just hope the weather will be good because it can change from sunny and warm to cold and windy in a matter of hours. Anyway, we’ll see; we’ll definitely try to be at the front and have fun.”

Unfortunately Dani Pedrosa's situation is rather different to his team-mate's as he arrives in Australia. His final MotoGP season is proving to be one of the most difficult, added to which the Australian track has never been his particular cup of tea.

Phillip Island isn’t one of my favourite tracks, though we’ve also been able to get some good results there in the past. More recently, though, we’ve struggled to find the best setup. That said, we’ll go there and manage it as well as possible. Let’s hope to find good weather and to be able to use every session well in order to prepare for the race.”
