Jorge Lorenzo tried to grit his teeth, bu there was nothing doing. His physical condition prevented him from competing at Motegi and, as if that weren't enough, the Majorcan will not be able to race next week at Phillip Island either.
Ducati has therefore decided to find a replacement, selecting Alvaro Bautista to ride the GP18. The current Angel Nieto team rider therefore takes up the baton from his fellow countryman: “I want to thank Ducati for this oppportunity, as well as my own team. It's a dream come true to ride the factory bike and I cannot wait to get out on track” commented Bautista.
An exciting challenge, but one that brings some unknowns: “To be honest I have no set target to achieve. I will try to learn as quickly as possible and be competitive, hoping to do a good job."
Ducati is hopeful that Jorge may return for Sepang, failing that he'll be on track for the final round at Valencia.
