MotoGP, Zarco: "Marquez will race with the title in mind"

The Frenchman qualifies second, just 0.068 from Dovi: "I'm keeping the door open in terms of a win, but I'm down a tenth"

MotoGP: Zarco:

Johann Zarco was looking good for pole position at Motegi, but in the end he had to settle for second place, just 0.068 of a second from poleman Andrea Dovizioso. The Tech3 rider is back at the sharp end, proving to be the fastest Yamaha rider today.

I like the Motegi track and already had good sensations in practice. In Qualifying too I felt confident, and second place confirms this. A pity about the final sector, it's complicated, I think I made a small mistake in turn 11 that proved fatal”.

The Frenchman is now focused on the race.

“The situation is different here compared to Thailand, there the group was compact. I'd say I need another tenth to be able to fight with the fastest guys. Starting from second on the grid is definitely an opportunity not to be wasted though”.

What about his chances of winning, and Marquez's strategy tomorrow.

Winning is a possibility I think. With respect to Valencia, Marc will be thinking about the title. It won't be easy to match their pace, but I'll try”.
