Having missed the Thai Grand Prix and having been forced to wave the white flag in Japan too, Jorge Lorenzo now risks missing the Phillip Island round in a week's time. Today, at Motegi, the Majorcan needed just two laps to realise that he's unable to tame the Desmosedici while still suffering with a wrist fracture.

It went as I expected, perhaps a little worse - he explains - My riding sensations were not good, particularly in braking, and in the left-hand corners and changes of direction it was even worse. It was impossible to continue, I wasn't fast or comfortable, or even riding safely. I was slow and only risked making the situation worse .

The decision made, he must now look to the future. Ducati has suggested that Lorenzo works with Dr. Fabio Catani, from the Modena hospital, as he continues his recovery.

Tomorrow I'll got and get an MRI to have a clearer picture of the injury and the recovery process. I definitely won't have surgery and that's not recommended for this type of injury”.

The problem is that the healing process is slow, with just a week until the Phillip Island round.

If the fracture hasn't improved in two weeks, it's unlikely to do so in six days. Right now, I don't want to rule out the possibility of racing at Phillip Island, but it will be very difficult.

A heavy blow...

I'm really sorry not to be racing at Motegi, it's one of my favourite tracks and with the Ducati I could have fought for the win. Unfortunately I was unable to push or be in any way competitive, so there was no point continuing ” he concludes.
