This time he really has a reason to kick himself. Indeed, because with just over five laps left in the race, Dani Pedrosa fell victim to a crash that forced him to throw in the towel. Despite an uphill start, the Spaniard had managed to close the gap, setting himself up in a position at the foot of the podium. Then, the crash compromised his chances to battle for the podium.
“I am very disappointed about this result – Dani said – Unfortunately, I lost the front and ended up in the gravel on that section, maybe also because of some bumps.”
Dani described his race.
“At the start, I had a problem with the clutch that caused me to lose time and positions. Then, I went wide on turn 1 to avoid Miller. That was a problem, because I had to exploit the rear tyre to the maximum and that, in fact, was a crucial aspect. In fact, in the warm up session I had used that tyre, only turning three laps and struggling a lot, unlike the other riders.”
So, all Pedrosa can do now is look forward.
“We’ll arrive at the next race in better form – he warned – At Motegi we’ll find a track with various acceleration points from low speed and hopefully I’ll find the right confidence.”
