MotoGP: Marquez: "Lorenzo's crash? very strange"

At the end of day one at Buriram, Marquez finds himself once again commenting on an incident involving Lorenzo, but this time the Honda rider was nowhere near. Marc, having seen the crash, voices his concerns.

With these tyres and these bikes, a high-side like the one Lorenzo had is very strange  - he comments - They need to see what happened, but we hope Jorge is ok”.

Having touched on his future team-mate, Marquez talks about his own day, which he ends in 4th place.

I got on pretty well in FP2. It was just a pity that we made an incorrect change to the bike at the end, the good set-up was the one I had during my second exit. As usual on a Friday, I've tried to understand the tyres and work on set-up, tomorrow we'll need to make another step because we're all close”.

The situation looks a lot more balanced than it did during winter testing, when Honda looked to have an extra gear.

"We're lapping slower than we did in February. I think that's down to the radical change in rear tyre, these require a very different set-up to what we used in testing.. I've started with a different base, because I've changed things throughout the season. Perhaps I'm not as fast on the flying lap but I have better pace and feel more comfortable”.

Buriram has also brought surprises, like the Yamahas for example.

At times they're very fast and at other times they struggle, it's hard for them, and us, to understand. Maverick rode well today, but we'll have a better idea tomorrow. Today was strange, everyone focused on testing the tyres and tomorrow, after FP4, we'll have a clearer idea of the situation”.

Marquez is keeping an eye on various riders, not only Dovizioso.

I see some riders quicker than him, like Vinales and Pedrosa. But Andrea always works in a different way, he'll be there come the race”.

A final word about the weather.

It's hot but not extreme, things are worse in Malaysia. The conditions are good, and track grip improved from morning to afternoon. I had more trouble driving a tuk tuk in Bangkok two days ago" he laughs.
