Last weekend, we saw Christophe Ponsson riding team Avintia's Ducati in place of Tito Rabat. The Frenchman will not act as a stand-in at Aragon though, with Spaniard Jordi Torres taking up the baton. The team has decided to entrust Torres, currently competing in the Superbike series on the MV Agusta.

This will be the Spaniard's debut appearance in the top class, having only ever having competed in Moto2. He is therefore in for a very busy September, with the Portimao SBK round next week, Aragon the following weekend and then Magny-Cours at the end of the month: “I thank Avintia for this opportunity – states Torres – I'm excited but also a little nervous ahead of this new adventure, as it will be my first time riding a MotoGP bike”.

The Spaniard is nevertheless very keen: “I can't wait to get started. The level of the championship is high and I'll do my best to learn. Right now, it's just one race but it could become two. I wish Tito a speedy recovery, I know he'll be back soon, he's a fighter.”
