My leg was twisted, like an S shape”, Tito Rabat tells of the moments following the terrible accident he suffered at Silverstone, when Morbidelli's bike crashed into him.

The worst of the accident was the pain, which practically has not let me sleep - continues the Avintia rider - I never thought about losing my leg, although I saw it twisted like an S when I was laying on the gravel. I lost a lot of blood and I got scared. I have learned a lesson and from now on every time I crash again I will look back. At that moment I saw that Rins was warning me to get out of there, and I saw Franco’s bike coming very fast towards me, I stood up and the bike hit my leg, otherwise it would have been much worse”.

Tito underwent emergency surgery in Coventry, an operation carried out under the supervision of doctors Ángel Charte, Xavier Mir and Ignacio Ginebreda. The doctors confirmed that the surgery was a success but have not yet established when Rabat will be able to ride again: “We have to give it time and we can not fix a date. We have planned several actions to accelerate consolidation to the maximum. You can get on the bike before the fractures are fully consolidated, but you always have to assess the existing risks.”

Rabat hopes to return to racing as soon as possible, but trusts in the doctors' opinion.

"I will do what the doctors say - he states - The priority is to recover as soon as possible."

The team has not yet confirmed who will replace Rabat in the next races. Barbera was contacted but has turned down the ride, another option might be Ducati test rider Michele Pirro.
