Honda has dominated the last three editions of the San Marino GP; twice with Marquez and once with Pedrosa. Not a bad business card to present at Misano, despite its rivals being more than battle-ready. Ducati and Yamaha have recently carried out a private test at the Itailan track, though Marc appears to have all the weapons he needs to react.

The Spaniard arrives in Italy with a significant championship lead, meaning that he only really needs to use the calculator, rather than his right wrist, to achieve the final goal. Marquez is not like that though, and promises to do all he can to ruin his rivals' party on their home turf.

Misano is a twisty track and a slower one compared to others on the calendar, with a lot of braking and acceleration. It’s been a good circuit for us in the past; we have many good memories and we’ll definitely try to add a new one to the list next Sunday", he promises.

The last was his 2017 victory.

Last year I felt well on the bike and I could ride as I like, but on Friday we’ll go on track with the usual mentality, prepared to deal with and to adapt to every situation we find. We’ll try to understand the conditions and the grip of the track, looking to improve session by session, hopefully during a sunny and warm weekend!”

Dani Pedrosa has similar hopes, still short on important results this season. The Spaniard has proved to be able to interpret the Misano track in the past, so to underestimate him would be a mistake.

I hope we’ll have some nice weather in Misano and to be able to exploit well all of the sessions. I like the track enough even if it’s a bit bumpy and the grip level is often a challenge, because it can change a lot from the morning sessions to the afternoon. The tyre choice will be very important.”
