Ducati, in the shape of its team manager Davide Tardozzi, has spoken out about why Andrea Dovizioso was not present at the Safety Commission meeting.
“Yesterday afternoon, I received no official communication about a meeting between the riders and race direction to decide as to the eventual cancellation of the race - explains Tardozzi -The idea of the meeting with Race Direction was a spontaneous thing among some of the riders, who started to tell other riders to go to the IRTA offices. For example, Jorge Lorenzo was informed by his manager Albert Valera who heard about it from Aleix Espargaro. Not all riders were present because some were not informed and others only showed up once they saw the images on TV, no-one having officially called them in. That's what I did, I saw the images on TV and went of my own accord to find out what was happening. As always, no Team Manager attended the meeting, just as we are not present at the usual Safety Commission meetings held at tracks on a Friday".
Tardozzi also admits that Ducati would have been prepared to race on Monday.
"With regard to the possibility of racing on Monday, we voted in favour of this possibility. Ducati was totally in agreement with the decision taken, because it was the safest thing for everyone, but I still think that a decision as important as this should have been taken in the presence of all the riders on the grid, with an official request to attend a meeting.”
