Yesterday's test at Misano was particularly interesting for Aprilia, the riders having the chance to test some updates for their 4-cylinder machines. The men in Noale are working hard to close the gap to the fastest guys and Redding and Aleix Espagarò are testing some solutions that could prove useful during the final part of the season.

Initial results appear encouraging and the first to express his satisfaction is Aprilia racing manager Romano Albesiano.

“The data we've collated here is extremely positive, we have some very, very good indications - he commented during the tests - We expected this because we have new engine components that had been scheduled months ago, it took time to get them. Initial impressions are positive, this is probably what we were missing. They represent an important step, improving the bike's balance”.

Albesiano is focused on this aspect, finding optimum balance for the RS-GP.

The bike Iannone will have, next year's bike, will be an evolution of the current bike. There won't be any revolutions, because I think the base is already good, the bike just needs to regain the balance it had lost, both in terms of engine delivery and tyre consumption. Right now, our goal is to be regularly inside the top ten, once we have those conditions we can exploit the situation to do more”.

The reference in MotoGP right now is Ducati and Romano is following his rivals with interest.

“In terms of sheer performance, with regard to the engine, I think Ducati has had an advantage for 10 years, and continues to do so, it will take time to catch them. Our level is sufficient, we just need to find overall bike balance. We have some innovative and ambitious plans for the future”.

In the meantime, work continues with a view to the short-term future, with the creation of a test team and a strengthening of the team's structure.

We have already defined some new entries, and are working on others, it's normal to have this change over of technicians” he concludes.
