MotoGP: Day of tests in Misano for Yamaha, Ducati and Aprilia

An August Sunday and a test Sunday for MotoGP. While holidaymakers enjoyed the beach and sun on the Italian Riviera, the riders were hard at work preparing for the two upcoming GP rounds, Silverstone and San Marino.

Much is expected from this day of testing of Yamaha, who had promised, through managing director Lin Jarvis, a decisive step forward in terms of the M1's performance thanks to this test and the one in Aragon (after the Silverstone race). The electronics on the M1 are in the spotlight and reinforcements arrived in Valentino's garage in the form of Michele Gadda, coming from the factory Yamaha SBK team. Today Rossi and Viñales will have found out if the promises have been kept.

Along with the factory Yamaha team will be the factory Ducati team, with Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo taking advantage of the occasion to fully prepare for the home race of the bike from Borgo Panigale. In recent races, the Desmosedici has proven to be the bike to beat and some testing to sort the final details is always helpful.

Aprilia is in yet another situation, trying to catch up to the top competitors. Aleix Esparagarò and Scott Redding were also in Misano and there was no lack of material to test. In Noale, they are working on the carbon swingarm but in the garage, there are advancements for the frame and engine as well.

Missing from these tests were Suzuki, KTM and Honda. The latter, however, was absent with the factory team, but present with Cal Crutchlow and their rookies: Franco Morbidellie, Tom Luthi and Takaaki Nakagami who had a chance to familiarise themselves with the track on their MotoGP bikes ahead of the Grand Prix.

We at GPOne were in Misano with our correspondent to keep you up to date throughout the day.
