The Superbike engines may be turned off for now but the riders' market remains open for business.

The Pedercini team is already looking ahead to 2019, confirming its current rider, Yonny Hernandez, in his first Superbike season on the black and green Kawasaki. The former Moto2 and MotoGP rider will continue to ride the Ninja ZX10RR for Lucio Pedericini's outfit next year.

Hernandez, after years in the world championship, is getting used to the production-derived paddock and building confidence with the Italian team's bike, well-regarded among the 'independents'. The renewal of this contract will relieve some pressure on both sides, meaning that during the winter they will be able to focus solely on preparing for the challenge of 2019: “Yonny is gradually becoming more confident with the bike and the team: a sign that professionalism and a vehicle are working in the same direction. I see him very motivated and focused, and I immediately confirmed him for the next season”.

Having assigned one seat, he adds another, with Gabriele Ruiu, 18, set to move up from Superstock 1000 to the SBK series next season: “Gabriele, is a young talent, who however has drawn the attention of the most experienced team and manager of this world: a very fast rider, with a great desire to learn and stand out. I like and I'm excited about the idea of being able to see him integrated into the World Superbike team in 2019, but above all it is a real asset to be able to launch new talented youngsters alongside experienced riders.”.
