Lorenzo is now playing a leading role on the Ducati, even more so at a track that has always looked kindly on the Borgo Panigale bike. 2nd in the dry and 4th in the wet confirm that the Majorcan is in with a good chance some Sunday.

It's too early to say whether I can aim for the win, that result always depends on many factors, but I've started the weekend positively. It's getting easier for me to adapt with the bike to different tracks and this is an important sign, last year this wasn't the case. It means we've found a good base setting from which to start.

Which doesn't mean a perfectionist like Lorenzo is satisfied.

I always have some tests to carry out during every sessions. I'm sure I still have room to improve tomorrow. Unfortunately we only had half the day, I would have liked to have two dry sessions. At the same time, it's been useful to ride in the wet, though it's not likely to rain tomorrow. I didn't complete many laps and didn't push to the max, I just checked everything was working properly”.

The first session, conducted in the dry, saw three Ducatis leading the way. A result that doesn't rule out Marquez though.

I could see Marc was strong today and was one of very few not to put in a fresh tyre at the end, so it's difficult to know how quick he really is. I don't think he'd have been a lot quicker than Dovizioso though, he'd have been at around our level”.

The Majorcan therefore wants to make the most of tomorrow.

The level of Andrea, Marc and me, we're all pretty similar, almost the same in fact. I want to improve and make the different, let's see if I can do it" he concludes.
