He finished Friday outside the top ten by just nine thousandths, but his face is brimming with confidence. Andrea Iannone is honing his weapons for Saturday, where the goal is to close the gap behind the leaders and he has plenty of leads to follow up on.

I am rather satisfied with my performance – the number 29 rider said – Looking at the standings it seems like we are behind, but we worked a lot in view of the race.”

Iannone prefers to see the glass half full.

“I don't feel bad at all. With the used tyre I did some good times and I managed to improve, especially toward the end. That gives me a lot of confidence.”

So, the Italian rider is well aware of which cards to play.

“We are working well, plus I have clear ideas about what to improve. Qualifying will be important, but the sensations are good.”
