MotoGP: Rins: "I don't want to let Marquez get away in the race"

While Friday at Assen saw the spotlight shine on Andrea Iannone, today the baton is passed to Alex Rins. In Saturday's qualifying the Spaniard proves to be the quickest Suzuki rider, scoring a fifth place finish, just 0.142 of a second from the front.

I'm really pleased because we've had a productive day. Right from yesterday, I knew my pace would be good and today I was able to improve further. Thanks to which I was able to demonstrate my speed, I have clear ideas ahead of tomorrow too, I know what to do."

Rins goes into more detail.

“We've worked on the set-up and the suspension, this was very helpful because the Suzuki is more stable now, especially through the chicanes. We need to continue to work to improve of course. As for top speed, I'm not having too many problems, the new engine has helped me”.

His mind is already on tomorrow afternoon.

“My race strategy is clear, I need a good start, I'm sure the top guys will try to break away early on, but my aim is to stick with Marquez's group. I'll do all I can to reach the podium or at least finish top five, considering my competitive Suzuki”.

Assen has put a smile back on the Spaniard's face..

This track suits my style, I like wide and fast turns, with respect to tight, slow ones, and I can be more competitive”.

What about tyre choice?

“We worked with the soft and the hard this morning and I was strong with both, but I need to speak with the team to understand which is the best solution”.
