MotoGP: LATEST. Morbidelli won't race at Assen

The Assen GP is already over for Franco Morbidelli. The rider crashed during the third free practice, a high speed fall in which the Marc VDS rider rolled several times on the sand until he touched the barrier, fortunately not a violent impact.

Transported to the circuit's medical centre, tests have revealed a fracture of the third metacarpal on his left hand. After further checks, the doctors have ruled Franco unfit to race this weekend. Morbidelli will have just under two weeks to get back in shape before the Sachsenring GP.
