His Yamaha was the fastest one in the Monday tests in Barcelona. After a Grand Prix where he was just watching, Johann Zarco filed away the day with the fifth best time, finishing behind Danilo Petrucci. There was no lack of work for the Frenchman during the session.

“Today we concentrated primarily on the M1’s setup with the goal of finding the right confidence – the Tech3 rider said – In fact, in the morning I did several runs to improve the performance of the bike and the sensations were more positive than they were on Sunday.”

His expression is brimming with confidence.

“We found various things that will be helpful for the race in Assen – Zarco advised – particularly connected with riding style. The GP of Holland will be an important round where I want to ride a good race.”

There was also a lot of work for his teammate, Hafizh Syahrin.

“I needed today to test the new tyres Michelin brought – the Malaysian said – I changed my way of braking, which is now harder in order to stop the M1 more easily. I think that it was a good step forward.”

Yesterday’s accident is by now a distant memory.

“Unfortunately, I did not feel like I was at 100% today – he admitted – so I finished up earlier than planned. I hope to continue in this direction and be competitive in Assen from the first free practice session, just as I did in Barcelona.”
