Marc Marquez has always said that he wants another strong rider on the other side of the garage to compare himself to. Honda took him at his word, hiring Jorge Lorenzo for the next two years.
“I asked for a strong team-mate but not that strong” joked Marc, participating with Jorge in the inaugural event at the Catalunya GP.
The Spanish pair have already been referred to as a dream team, alla' Senna and Prost. It's definitely a pairing that promises sparks.
“Honda has done a good job, the most important thing is to have a strong team-mate. They informed me of their decision and asked me if it would be a problem, I said no” revealed Marc.
The Cervera champion also stated in recent weeks that the Honda wouldn't be easy for anyone climbing aboard. Will that apply to Lorenzo too?
“You never know. The Honda is definitely very different to the Yamaha and more similar to the Ducati, this might be of help to Jorge. He's a fast rider, he might need a day, a race or a year, but he'll get there. Lorenzo also has a lot of experience and can provide a lot of useful information”.
