A clamorous race at Brno. We don't often see a race in which (almost) all of the top riders commit a mistake, but race 2 i the Czech Republic proved to be just that. The first to err was Jonathan Rea, who crashed at turn 12 also as a result of having made contact with team-mate Tom Sykes. The man who should have profited was Marco Melandri, who moved into the lead on lap four, but then he too make a mistake, running long through turn three and having to continue on from 19th place, eventually finishing 15th and setting the fastest lap of the race in the process.

Rounding out the list of crashers was Tom Sykes, who went down at turn ten during lap five and continued to finish 16th, behind Melandri. The rider who really took advantage of the opportunity was Alex Lowes, who, thanks to a consistent pace, was able to run a pretty solitary race to the line, earning his first win in the category. “It's really fantastic - commented an emotional Lowes – thanks so much everyone”.

Yamaha enjoyed a perfect day, topped off by the fact that Michael Van Der Mark crossed the line in second place. “I'm really pleased with the result, I changed front tyre today and the sensations weren't the same as yesterday. I wasn't as fast as Lowes, but I'm pleased for him on scoring his first win, and pleased for Yamaha and for my podium”. Rounding out the podium was Chaz Davies. “One of the toughest weekends of recent times, along with Donington. I had little grip, so I'm pleased with a podium”.

Aprilia just misses out on the podium with Laverty crossing the line fourth, followed by Savadori, while Michael Rinaldi closes sixth. Camier, Fores, Razgatlioglu and Ramos completed the top ten. Like Rea, Jordi Torres also failed to reach the finish line.
