Ducati will only speak Italian next year, with Danilo Petrucci in the factory garage alongside Andrea Dovizioso. Official confirmation that the Italian will take the place of Jorge Lorenzo arrived this morning. Petrux spoke with his usual irony during an interview on the Tutti Convocati show on Italian Radio24: “when they told me yesterday that the release would be sent out today, I was up in the mountains cycling. I have to say it was less of effort to ride after hearing the news”.

Danilo also revealed that “we shook hands after the Mugello race” but he was almost sure of the move a week prior to that. A dream come true, but also a great responsibility for the Italian.

I promise I'll give all I have and be one of those riders that the ducatisti will always remember as one of them, embodying the passion for Ducati. I'm thinking of riders like Stoner, Capirossi, Bayliss, I'll work to be one of them” ensures Danilo.

His adventure in Ducati started long ago, and Petrucci looks back at the journey.

I'm came to Ducati on the bottom rung, as a test rider for the production bikes, and bit by bit, step by step, I've become one of the two riders of reference - he states - It's a great story and having experienced so much during these 4 years with Dall’Igna, Ciabatti and Domenicali, I want to thank them first and foremost as people rather than managers”.

He still has a few months before he'll be in the red suit, but he wants to repay the trust in this season's 13 remaining races.

I already have a factory bike and Ducati has always done everything to allow me to be fast. Some things will change being in the factory team, though the Pramac team is very competitive. Right now, I'd like to finish the season fighting inside the top five, before starting a new phase of my career”.
