MotoGP: From Mugello, a ride through for anyone changing tyre prior to the start

The Grand Prix Commission has decided to approve a regulatory change regarding the start procedure. As of the Mugello Grand Prix, anyone changing bike before or after the warm-up lap will be penalised as follows.

If, prior to the warm up lap, a rider enters the garage to change tyres, said rider will start from the same grid position but will have to carry out a ride through during the race. This penalty will not be applied if the bike is being changed due to a technical problem.

If, on the other hand, a rider enters the garage to change tyres after the warm-up lap, he will start from pit-lane and carry out a ride through, though in this case the second penalty will not be applied if the bike is suffering technical problems.

Lastly, if more than 10 riders will be starting from pit-line, a red flag will be waved and and a new start procedure will begin.

A rider will not receive any penalty if he changes bike following the sighting lap, because in this case the pit lane remains open for 5 minutes.
