Marc Marquez VS Andrea Dovizioso, the eternal challenge. At Le Mans, the Spaniard and the Italian once again hogged the limelight. After setting the bar in the morning, in the afternoon number 93 had to settle for second place behind the Ducati rider, fresh from re-signing.

The six-time world champion began his analysis precisely from this point.

“If I were Ducati, I would have re-signed Dovi in January – Marc began with a smile – He is the only one able to go fast with that bike and his re-signing was logical. If he had left, it would have been a mistake for them.

Now we need to see who number 93’s teammate will be.

“That is up to Honda – he reiterated – I just need to stay focused on the bike. Obviously, having a strong teammate is better for me – he added – since it raises the level of competition. The only thing I can say is that Dani is one of the fastest riders on the grid.”

From the rider market, attention then shifts to the bike. Indeed, because the Jerez and Mugello tests left good feedback for Marc.

“At Mugello we followed the same path as in Jerez – he recalled – working on the bike’s settings and aerodynamics. Unfortunately, the rain conditioned the tests since we had a work schedule to follow. In any case, we are enthusiastic because we had positive feedback, homologating the spare fairing for the season.”

Marquez then discussed the latest aerodynamic evolution.

This fairing is different than the previous ones – he stated – In fact, we are able to draw many benefits in various areas. In particular, it wheelies less – he revealed – In fact, the bike is more stable, so after Mugello we decided to bring it here to Le Mans. It also doesn’t even have an impact on top speed.”

So he is brimming with confidence.

“With the two fairings, I can say that we are sorted on any type of track, namely the fast and the slow ones – he warned – We have more upgrades for the future, but we’ll see later on.”

Of course there is a comment on the tyres, where Marc showed competitiveness with the hard.

“With the soft, I am still too much at the limit – he admitted – so I prefer to capitalise on the hard.”

The final question is about the weekend.

From what we saw today, the Yamaha proved to be very strong – Marc concluded – The Ducati definitely showed a lot of growth and I am sure that in the end, Dovi will be with the leaders. After all, he was very competitive in terms of race pace.”
