MotoGP: Iannone: The position? I'm not worried

Andrea Iannone arrived in France with a smile on his face, fortified by two consecutive podium finishes in the last two races, but the first day of practice in Le Mans was not exactly perfect. At least in terms of the combined standings, which relegates him to 14th place, so virtually out of going straight through to Q2. “On the last full lap I found Abraham in front of me from the third sector – Andrea recounts – and I lost speed, improving my time by only a tenth where I could have done five or six tenths better. It’s a pity because we would have more peace of mind for tomorrow, but I’m not worried.”

However, is mood is still good and number 29 shows that he is confident with what he has.

“I think that with work, we can get a lot closer. This morning we started well and without making a lot of changes on the bike to see where we stood and for the second session we changed fewer things than we have on other weekends. Now we’ll begin to look for the right direction in order to be faster.”

One aspect to keep an eye on is the high asphalt temperature, which could play some cruel jokes.

"Today I struggled with the hard tyre on the front and that is not positive since as of now it should be the compound for the race. Right now, all the tyres work well, but we need to figure out which is the best. It will be important to see how the temperature changes.”

Lastly, The Maniac goes into detail about his situation, revealing the aspects where he needs to improve.

“In general, we are able to slow down and turn well, whereas we suffer a bit with vibrations. Here in Le Mans, wheelies are also a problem, but it’s the same for everyone and we already have the winglets to combat this issue. It is important to have both good braking and good acceleration.”
