Carlos Checa, former professional rider and SBK world champion with Ducati in 2011, makes a return to the track, a guest of Audi Sport, for a weekend driving an Audi R8 LMS Cup. The 45-year old Spaniard is taking part, as a special guest, in the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, taking place this weekend at the Nurburgring, alongside the 24 hour Endurance race.

The spectacular and hard-fought single-manufacturer series will see Checa line up for the two “sprint races”, one on Friday and the other on Saturday, driving a specially prepared Audi R8 complete with customised graphics dedicated to Ducati and the popular Spanish rider.

Before the Nürburgring 24 Hours gets underway, Checa will make a lap of the historic Nurburgring track, on board the brand new Panigale V4 S, to greet all the fans who will be watching the Endurance race.

Carlos Checa, who retired from full-time competition a few years ago, can boast a very successful career, which concluded with him winning the 2011 World Superbike Championship, after winning 15 races on board a Ducati 1198 R F11.
