“I'm in my world, where everything is great”, Zarco describes his current situation with a smile. The results speak for themselves, he is, without a shadow of a doubt the strongest Yamaha rider right now and while there are long faces in the factory Yamaha garage, it's quite the opposite in the Tech3 camp.

I was quick on the flying lap and more consistent in terms of race pace today, it's normal because Monday is always more relaxing. I didn't have anything to test, but I tried to work on set-up and electronics.

Johann cites the very element that is most concerning to Valentino and Vinales: the electronics.

I have the same problems as them. Yesterday, in the race, I was struggling with acceleration out of the slow turns and tried to improve. I've learned a lot today and had fun riding. We worked on the electronics and now need to see if the changes made will work at other tracks too”.

Zarco's work with his technicians seems to be working and the Frenchman knows he still has room to improve.

I think what I learned in Moto2 is really helping me. Last year, I didn't make the most of my bike and the aim this year is to do just that in every race. What's my percentage right now? I'd say 93% he says with a smile, recalling Marc's race number.

Johann would like to find that missing 7% in time for the next race, his home race.

“I go to Le Mans with hopes of winning, though I don't want to put too much pressure on myself. For now, I see it like that, then we'll see over the weekend whether I'll be changing my mind. I don't think it will be like last year, with three Yamahas out front, but it's a track at which the M1 generally works well. Marquez and Dovizioso will definitely be up there, I think it will be a close run thing”.
