Disappointing in the race and better during testing, a situation that Vinales often finds himself in. His 4th place finish today does not inspire optimistic though, and not only because he's 4 tenths behind Zarco's Yamaha.
“We're always competitive on a Monday, but we need to do it on a Sunday. I don't think we've resolved much, I don't know if we've taken steps forward, our level is still the same”.
As are the problems.
“We have no traction. The track was very fast today, especially this morning, there was good grip. I tried various set-ups, doing some comparisons and not a lot more. I tried to enjoy the riding. What am I taking home? More kilometres on the bike”.
Like Valentino, the Spaniard doesn't expect to see any big improvements in the short-term.
“We know the path, we just have to take it. For the details you need to speak to the engineers, I ride and try to do so as well as possible. I was able to maintain a good pace today, even with a full tank, a situation with which I usually struggle”.
What does he expect at Le Mans?
“We'll see, there's grip there and we should do better. Then there are tracks with not a lot of grip, like Barcelona, where things might be more complicated”.
