MotoGP: Crutchlow: Nice to be back at the top

Once again, Cal Crutchlow is looking down on the rest from the top. In fact, the best time on this Spanish Friday went to the English rider, who put the cherry on the top of a day where the Honda’s dominating power was clear. “I can say that the bike is dialled in. The track is different than when we came to do the tests in November. On that occasion it was cold and there was a lot of grip, whereas today there was much less.”

Looking at the stopwatch, the situation seems excellent and Cal is not denying it.

It seems like I’m able to do good times and the tyres are working well. We used the soft and the medium, but tomorrow we’ll also use the hard on the rear, which could be the right choice for the race. Overall, I am confident.”

In any case, reaching a good setup was not a given, and number 35 recounts the various steps he had to face.

“We tried various setups and I didn’t feel comfortable with the winglets that I tried here for the first time this year. There was a lot of wind, so they did not react well and we had to change direction, since we didn’t have an optimised setup. But now I feel good and it’s nice to be back on top.”
