Austin is the stronghold of Marc Marquez and, just to make a change, #93 proved so once again two weeks ago, dominating the stars and stripes round on board his Honda. Thanks to the win at COTA, the Spaniard now has 36 victories in the reigning class, one less than Mike Hailwood.

The Spanish Grand Prix is therefore a chance to catch the British rider and set his sights on the 38 of Casey Stoner. In this special classification dedicated to the most successful riders, Valentino Rossi leads the way with 89 reigning class wins, followed by Giacomo Agostini on 68 and Mick Doohan on 54.

Back to Marquez, and in Texas the Honda rider scored his sixth consecutive win at the Grand Prix of the Americas. A number shared by Casey Stoner who, between 2007 and 2012, dominated at the Australian GP, as well as by Mick Doohan, the winner at Mugello from 1993 to 1998. There is someone who's gone one better than Mick though: Valentino Rossi, who won the Italian round on seven consecutive occasions, between 2002 and 2008.

The rider with the greatest number of consecutive wins at the same circuit is in fact Giacomo Agostini, with nine victories at the Finnish track of Imatra between 1965 and 1973.
