It was a seventh place taken with heart, gritting his teeth and riding through the pain. Hats off to this Dani Pedrosa who, just two weeks after fracturing his wrist, was back on his Honda, putting the pressure on his rivals in Texas.

His face at the end of the race betrayed his weariness, but it also showed satisfaction.

I am very tired and this race was certainly not fun – the Spaniard began – In any case, I am happy because it was a positive weekend on a difficult track like this one. The seventh place finish is a god result and I did not expect it – he admitted – But I managed to start well and stay with the group ahead of me.”

As we mentioned, Dani had to grit his teeth.

“This morning I underwent more intense treatment for the pain – he revealed – That helped me to focus more on the bike, partially because I did not know if I would be capable of racing in the afternoon.

Dani then explains how the race went.

“At the beginning I felt better – he said – But I was lacking the strength to control the bike in the finale. This is a very demanding track – he emphasised – In any case, I am enthusiastic and I wish to thank Dr Mir, but also those who helped me and showed me that they were close to me.”

Now he is thinking about the first European round.

“In these first three races, I still have not found the right setup – Dani admitted – Among other things, here in Austin I had other priorities. We’ll see how I feel with the hand in Jerez. I will certainly be able to work more on the Honda if I am in better condition.”
