Jorge Lorenzo leaves America with his first points of the season, although compared to a year ago, only half as many. There is disappointment on the Majorcan’s face, finishing out of the top ten and forced to settle for a bitter tasting eleventh place.

I am very disappointed with this race – the Majorcan began – I didn’t have the pace and from the start I did not have the right sensations. This is the most difficult moment since I’ve been with Ducati, but I’ll never give up. In fact, I will try down to the end, working and focusing on the bike – he said – well aware that it will be difficult.”

Of course, there was a comment on Jack Miller’s move.

“He did what he always does – Jorge said – We’ll see if Race Direction penalises him or not for the contact. I was slower. He could have waited, but instead he risked making me crash. It’s sad.

Attention then shifts to the tyre choice. Jorge is asked why he didn’t rely on the soft.

Starting with that tyre would have been a possibility, but I couldn’t know what would happen at the end, particularly in terms of wear. Austin is a very demanding track where we struggled a lot with braking.”

Just as the COTA put the ‘Red’ to a hard test last year.

“The new Ducati has positive and negative points – Lorenzo analysed – With the electronics, I’m able to be faster, but it is still too physical.”

In the meantime, Jorge’s mind is already on the Spanish Jerez round.

I am a professional and I will never give up – he warned – Right now I just need to think positively, because I am convinced that the light at the end of the tunnel will arrive. Jerez is one of my favourite tracks and I’ll do everything I can to be competitive.”
