SBK, Rea: I know special tricks for the last lap at Assen

Johnny has won with the Kawasaki at Van Drenthe and also with the Honda. Sykes also loves the Dutch track: "we will regroup at Assen"

SBK: Rea: I know special tricks for the last lap at Assen

Just time to dismantle the hospitality units and it's time to leave Aragon and head to Assen, in The Netherlands, where everything is reassembled for round four of the production-derived series.

At the Van Drenthe track, the weather in April isn't exactly balmy and it therefore plays a fundamental role, as those riders not used to the cold can struggle. Add to this the possibility of rain and the Brits are (again) favourites.

Johnny Rea is aware of all this. The Northern Irishman spent several years with the Ten Kate Honda team, which is based in Holland, and knows all there is to know about the tough turns making up the University of two wheels:I really enjoy Assen and in the past it has been really nice to me. I spent a lot of time there with my previous team and it is a cool track. The weather forecast is hot. It is a really flowing track. I am looking forward to it, and it provides good racing. It tends to be a group of riders together, three or four, all race. I have done a lot of laps there, racing and testing and I also know some special tricks for the last lap.”

Tom Sykes' results were less than brilliant at Aragon and he is keen to remedy this as soon as possible. Yet to score a win this season, the Brit now heads to a track that suits his riding style: ““I am disappointed with the results in Motorland but I am not done yet and it is only a few days until we are in Assen. Both Jonathan and I have had some good races there. Assen is a circuit I enjoy so hopefully we can put the package together there and pick up where we need to. We will regroup at Assen, and it is a circuit where we have been very strong in the past.”
