MotoGP, Capirossi: "Lorenzo will stay with Ducati"

The former champion talks about the market as well as the American round: "it will be a tough Grand Prix, where the wings could be useful"

MotoGP: Capirossi:

Fans cannot wait for the curtain to go up on the Austin round and the same goes for Loris Capirossi. In today's Corriere dello Sport, the former champion speaks about the upcoming Texan event.

The favourite is, as ever, Marc Marquez, who has dominated the round ever since the 2013 edition, but Capirex warns: “It will be a complex race, Austin is a super-track – analysed Loris, who preferred not to speak about the recent events Termas de Rio Hondo  – I'm sure we'll see a great Grand Prix”

In America Ducati may unveil a new aerodynamic configuration on Lorenzo's bike, as it appears the Spaniard has asked for more load at the front. KTM is not in agreement with the wings, having asked for them to be banned: “Personally, I like the wings - commented Capirossi – and they will be probably be used at Austin to keep the front grounded in acceleration. I know KTM and Honda are against them, while Yamaha has no particular position and Ducati is strongly in favour. We'll see what happens”.

Attention then turns from the track to the market: “I think Suzuki will confirm Alex Rins' contract renewal. As for Lorenzo, I think he'll stay with Ducati. I wouldn't know about Zarco”.

A final mention for the Moto E, in that the former champion is involved in the Energica project: “I was in Modena recently to follow its development. With respect to the prototype, the battery pack in particular has improved, from 12 to 20 kW, to the benefit of power and autonomy”.
