Saturday's second-place finish was not enough and so Chaz Davies wasted no time, fighting back the very next day to score the Race 2 win. Despite starting from the third row, as the new regulation dictates, the Ducati rider had the bit between his teeth, carving his way through the field with only one aim in mind.

The Aruba didn't rush things though, managing his race well as he edged towards the front. A well-timed attack saw him pass both Melandri and then Rea, neither able to keep pace with Chaz, who crossed the line first. Behind him, the three-time Kawasaki champ and his Ducati team-mate, who both ran wide on the last lap, losing ground to the Welshman.

The Yamahas of Lowes and van der Mark crossed the line fourth and fifth, followed by the ZX-10RR of Tom Sykes, who got the better of a surprising Rinaldi on the last lap. A tough race for #66, who reached the finish line thirteen seconds behind his team-mate. Also closing insider the top ten were Torres, Razgatlioglu and the Aprilia of Savadori. Nineteenth for Davide Giugliano, while Xavi Forés failed to finish. A disappointing outcome for the Spaniard who crashed out while leading the race.
