SBK: Davies on the Race2 throne: "I won without being able to push"

His season start proved to be something of an uphill climb, but the subsequent rounds have seen Chaz Davies 'back on track'. Following his second-place finish yesterday, today brought a win in Race2, one which allows the Welshman to move ahead of Melandri in the overall standings, now just 12 points from leader Johnny Rea.

I had to fight hard for the win today. I started eighth, but I knew I what I needed to be able to catch up. in the first laps I was able to find the confidence I needed, proving competitive. The Ducati has shown to have great potential”.

The victory was no walk in the park though, with one particular aspect worrying Chaz.

“We went with a softer rear tyre and I expected more stability, but the rear continued to slide around, so I tried to be patient and avoid pushing too hard. Then I made some good passes and was in the right position to be able to set a good pace”.

The Aruba rider has a wide smile after today's result.

I'm very pleased to score my seventh win here at Aragon. I want to thank the team and Ducati. I can't wait to race at Assen next weekend".

As well as Davies, Michael Rinaldi also did well on the Ducati, scoring a surprising seventh place finish. At a certain point, he was lying fourth, but the Yamahas and then Sykes got past him.

"It was a fantastic raceThe riders at the front are really fast and I wanted to stick with them for the entire race. unfortunately I was shattered by the end, and the tyres were practically finished”.

The Stock rider can only be pleased with his performance.

I'm really pleased with this result, 8th and 7th on my first outing in a new category, I couldn't have asked for more. We'll try to improve further at Assen”.
