The wait is over because Saturday will see the curtain go up on the Italian Formula E round. For the first time in history, Rome will host the Italian round of the serious at a track through the roads of the EUR district. Fans are keen to see the cars in action, as well as the championship's stars of course, drivers that include Vergne, Buemi, Piquet Jr, Di Grassi and Italian Luca Filippi, to name but a few.

Also playing a role is a man who has flown the capital's flag throughout his motorsport career. We are talking about Max Biaggi. The Roman rider will open the track, taking the Mediaset TV spectators on a lap around the circuit, so working as both commentator and driver.

The jump from two to four-seater doesn't worry Max, as last Saturday he had chance to test with the Team Venturi simulator in Montecarlo, building confidence before he gets into the single-seater. It will be a special experience, something of a step back in time, to 1999 in fact, when the Italian tested the Ferrari F300 at Fiorano, completing 57 laps.

The Formula E race will get underway at 4pm CET in Italy's capital.
