The Losail round left Johann Zarco disappointed, the tyre slowing him down in the final stages as he dropped back to eighth place. Having achieved pole position on Saturday, this aspect conditioned the Frenchman's performance on race day. Now it's time for the Tech3 rider to turn the page, and get back on track at Rio Hondo.

Last year Zarco was able to power his M1 to a fifth place finish in Argentina, so he's feeling fairly confident: “After the first race I've been able to recharge the batteries and consider what happened. I have the right motivation to repeat that qualifying result and then manage the race to fight for the win”.

The Frenchman has one clear goal in mind: “Right now I'm just chasing the win, over the weekend we'll need to understand how to work with the bike but I'm convinced I have all I need to win”.

Zarco is sounding particularly confident. On the other side of the garage, Syahrin continues with his apprenticeship. Making his debut in the top class on board the Yamaha, the Malaysian was able to finish inside the top fifteen in Qatar: “I made the most of the time I had to train and be ready for this round. I've also watched various videos to better understand the M1's behaviour at this track”.

The rider has therefore combined the theoretical and the practical, and hopes it will lead to positive results: “I think I have more experience, to adapt what I have to my style. I'm feeling confident that we can take steps forward”.
