The Misano authorities have approved a proposal to create a commemorative garden in memory of the American rider who tragically lost his life on 22 May 2017, reports Italian news source RiminiToday.

The commemorative installation, paid for by a group of Nicky's friends, including Denis Pazzaglini, friend and former mechanic back when Hayden was riding for Repsol Honda in MotoGP, will be located in the gardens between via Ca’ Raffaelli and via Tavoleto, where the incident occurred. The patch of land has been made available to Misano town council, free of charge, by the owners.

Work will get underway after Easter with the aim of inaugurating the garden on the first anniversary of the American rider's death, or rather 22 May 2018.
