SBK: Rea rules the roost in Buriram

It was an opportunity not to be missed, and he definitely made the most of it. A Saturday to remember for the Cannibal in Buriram who, having achieved pole position yesterday, he was again the protagonist today, winning in perfect Rea style. The three-time champion was able to maintain his position through the opening stages before finding an extra gear and leaving his rivals behind.

There were no shortage of battles behind him, with Tom Sykes doing his best to keep pace with his team-mate, but finding himself unable. The surprise of the race was Xavi Forés, who achieved a memorable second-place finish, after his performance at Phillip Island one month ago. The Spaniard has improved over race distance, the strongest on board the Panigale today.

He and Rea are joined on the podium by Chaz Davies, who was able to get the better of Leon Camier on the Honda two laps from the end. What a pity for the Brit, who did everything he could to remain inside the top three. Behind him, Lowes, Sykes and van der Mark. A disappointing race for Marco Melandri, only eighth, who was left battling with a Panigale that seemed to be something of a wild horse.  Laverty and Torres also closed inside the top ten.
