Luigi Taveri has passed away at the age of 88, surrounded by his loved ones. The Swiss champion, originally from Horgen in the Canton of Zurich, suffered a stroke two weeks ago and had been in hospital since then.

Taveri won three world titles in 125, all on board a Honda, in 1962, 1964 and 1966, but he competed in all classes throughout his career, from 50 to 500, even a passenger in a sidecar. Luigi won 30 races and reached the podium on 89 occasions.

The GPOne team sends its sincere condolences to the family of the unforgettable champion.
