SBK: Rea and Kawasaki prepare to fight for their fourth title

The day after Ducati Aruba, it was Kawasaki's turn to unveil its bike, the ZX-10RR, that will line up on the starting grid this coming Superbke season. The Japanese bike retains its traditional green livery wit touches of black and red. At its Barcelona base, the team sharpens its weapons ahead of 2018, setting its sights on a fourth consecutive title. All hopes lie on Johnny Rea, a real matador over the last three seasons.

In the recent tests at Jerez and Portimao, the Northern Irishman played a starring role and is now keen to start on this new adventure. He is already on his way to Australia: “I can't wait for the championship to start - commented Rea - we expect a tough 2018, as many teams have proved competitive in testing, and we also have to deal with the new regulation". He doesn't seem too worried about that though: “As you know, our bike has had its revs limited. But I'm still confident, because the Kawasaki has continue to grow and we've been able to be quick in any situation”.

He can only have one goal: “I never thought I'd win so much in my career – said Johnny – I'm ready for this challenge and have all the motivation I need”.

Tom Sykes listens on as he prepares for his ninth year with Kawasaki: “I'm really happy to be part of this team - stated #66 - last season wasn't easy, as I also had to deal with a bad injury. Finishing top three was a significant result, considering the level of the championship”.
