Jonas Folger’s withdrawal has forced Hervé Poncharal to scramble for cover and look for a replacement. In the end, the choice fell on Yonny Hernandez. So, it will be up to the Colombian to throw a leg over the team Tech3 M1 for the Sepang tests, scheduled to be held from Sunday the 28th of January through Tuesday the 30th. Remember that this is a temporary substitution since the rider who will share the garage with Johann Zarco for the entire 2018 season has not yet been selected.

Hernandez, fresh from the Jerez tests astride the Pedercini Kawasaki, is ready for the challenge: “I hope that Jonas gets better and comes back soon – he commented – He is a talented rider and I wish him all the best. Personally, I am happy to have this chance – he added – to get back on a MotoGP bike. I am very curious to try a Yamaha, since in the past I only raced with Ducati in the top class.”

There to welcome the Colombian is Poncharal: “I wish to express once again how sorry I am about what happened to Jonas – the team’s number one man commented – However, we must overcome this situation in the best possible way, even if it will not be simple. On 20 January, almost all the riders we asked for were bound by contracts – he reminded – But at that time, Hernandez was not one of them. I would therefore like to thank Lucio Pedercini for his availability. No definitive decision will be made before returning from Sepang – Poncharal concluded – We’ll analyse Yonny’s performance during the tests. He is one of the few candidates for us for 2018.”
