MotoGP, A. Espargarò: "Now I can push closer to the limit"

Aleix reveals: "Phillip Island is not the best track for the new fairing, but the bike is growing"

MotoGP: A. Espargarò:

There is an Aprilia that shines in the top ten today. Aleix Espargarò is continuing to grow on board the RS-GP. The sixth time he set today, just two tenths from Marquez on the Honda, is not to be underestimated. If that were not enough, the Spaniard also unveiled the new fairing, but there is one aspect that needs further work.

A sixth place that inspires confidence.

“We are continuing to improve the bike. Yesterday we had some electronics issues, but took a good step forward. Today we focused on the frame, improving the flying lap and particularly our pace. We've also been able to improve both the front and the rear”.

What's changed with respect to Malaysia?

“The bike is not so different from that used at Sepang, but lap after lap I'm gaining in confidence, particularly with the front. Now I can push closer to the limit, discovering its real potential”.

How do you feel about the new fairing?

“It isn't bad, but we need to try it at other tracks too. I don't think Phillip Island is the best track on which to test the new fairing, as there's greater downforce, and it takes more effort to ride the Aprilia”.

What have you got planned for tomorrow?

“Tomorrow is our last day and we'll work on pace. We know we have a good growth margin, but I need to try and be more constant. We'll see what the weather's like and try to complete some long-runs”.
