MotoGP, Aleix Espargarò reveals the new Aprilia fairing

Albesiano: "Ours is not a stretch like the others, if it works in Australia we'll have no problems at the other tracks"

MotoGP: Aleix Espargarò reveals the new Aprilia fairing

We expected to see it yesterday, but the team postponed it until today. Just after midday local time, Aleix Espargarò exited with the new fairing on the RS-GP. He completed a few laps and then returned to the garage, where the bike was covered up again.

Romano Albesiano was track side, following the debut of this new component presented by the Noale manufacturer: “The idea has to do with trying to recover some of the downforce, something that was positively tested one year ago – commented the engineer - the aerodynamic effect of a surface is linked to the surface itself, consequently it was essential to maximise it, creating a shape that generates depression points which produce a certain downforce”.

Compared to Yamaha, Aprilia has chosen a different, personal path: “This school of thought is based on our interpretation of the regulation – he commented – what the other manufacturers have done seems, from the outside, to be a stretch on a traditional fairing”.

Albesiano has clear ideas about the RS-GP fairing: “This track is critical, the most difficult of all – he concluded - if it works here, I don't think we'll have any problems at other tracks”.
