MotoGP: Pirro: I calmly helped Lorenzo

Lorenzo has changed something this year, not just the bike, and the team (only his historic mechanic Juan Llansá has come with him), and his crew chief, but also a person with whom he had collaborated for many years: Zeelenberg.

Wilco is a fantastic person and was able to explain things clearly to me” recalls Jorge. However, the Majorcan has found a worthy replacement within his new family.

Pirro was a real surprise for me - he states -  he helped me to understand the bike and Stoner also gave me some useful advice. Michele acted as ‘track analyst’: he rides the same bike as me and is fast and knows what I need to be able to adapt. He gave me some suggestions and they've worked, I think we can be a great team”.

The Italian test rider minimised his help.

It's normal that I give him a hand, because it's all new to him while I know the  Desmosedici well - he commented - Logically there are problems at the start, it's just a matter of time and I've tried to give him some advice”.

Which worked.

I could simply see he was agitated and tried to transfer my calmness to him. Today, at the end of the test, he hugged me which I appreciated” he continued.

The collaboration seems to have a future, in fact Michele wasn't originally going to travel to the tests in Australia but plans have changes and he will be at Phillip Island to continue his collaboration with Jorge. “Now don't exaggerate and above all don't call me ‘coach’!” joked Michele.
