The wings may be on the way out, but during the Sepang tests they are still making an appearance on the MotoGP fairings. Yesterday, it was Stoner who used them during his early exits with the Ducati GP17, before definitively removing them in the afternoon.

Today Yamaha had them mounted on M1 used by Nakasuga, as you can see in the photo above. The Japanese test rider had been using the bike without wings but after lunch, the Iwata technicians decided to carry out a test that included them, for the sake of comparison.

Nakasuga was out on the ‘winged’ bike at around 3pm local time, but completed only a few laps before heavy rain showers arrived.

Riders are unlikely to return to the track, unless someone wants to test with rain tyres.

For Ducati, this has been a rather unproductive day. The GP17 bikes seem to have had some technical issues and Stoner was only able to complete a handful of laps, coming to a stop on two occasions at turn 12 in the early afternoon. Pirro completed a few more, but the Ducati garage door remained closed for a long time while the technicians got to work inside.
