OFFICIAL - The defending Superstock 1000 champion will continue development on the BMW SBK and take part in some championship rounds

De Rosa and Althea still together in 2017

After much ado, here is the news that many fans, especially Italians, have been awaiting for some time: Raffaele De Rosa will still be part of Team Althea BMW and he will join the two factory riders, Spaniard Jordi Torres and German Markus Reiterberger.

The defending Superstock 1000 champion had risked being without a ride after a brilliant season that he ended with the final victory and, considering the Neapolitan rider’s skill, it would have been a real pity.

The agreements between Raffaele and team Althea foresees using the rider as a developer for the BMW S1000RR and having him ride alongside Torres and Reiterberger in a few races, thereby consolidating the excellent relationship with Genesio Bevilacqua’s team: “I am very pleased to announce the continuation of the relationship with Raffaele - the team Althea patron said - he has always believed in our team. Despite not having from the very beginning a SBK bike for him, the team and I will work in function of his future in order to achieve the best possible results. I consider Raffaele a great rider capable of indicating the path of development; achieving my esteem and that of the whole team and I am sure he will prove to everyone the professional maturity reached after two years together.”

De Rosa also appeared to be satisfied about the agreement: “I am extremely happy to continue this partnership. My goal was to attend the entire SBK season; the team and I have invested all our energy for this purpose, however, it was not possible. I believe that this collaboration for 2017 is very good because it means that there is the will to carry out a common project.”
